How to Include New Items in Manual Filter

I was searching for how to add new items in manual filter while working on my excel sheet. Hope, you too had the same doubt and have landed here. I guess I am not wrong. Right?

So, This is the dataset. Let’s see how to view the data in Pivot Table when filters are applied.

  1. Select the entire data and go to Insert Tab >> Pivot Table.
  2. From the Pivot Table Fields, drag and drop Customer Name to Rows and Order ID to Values.

On selecting the Customer Name which has to be filtered out, the pivot table gets ready only with the selected names as per your filter specifications after clicking “ok”.

Hope, you are clear until this. The problem arises when you refresh your pivot table or when you add something new to your source data. When something is newly added to the source data and when you refresh the pivot table, it appears in the pivot table, but not under the filters.

To overcome this problem, we offer you a three step solution.

  1. Place your cursor on any cell of the pivot table and right click.
  2. Go to field settings.

  1. Under the “Field settings” dialog box, check “Include new items in manual filter”. and click “OK”.

2. Now go back to your data and try changing any name to the pivot table. As you can see from the below image in cell F7 the name is being changed as Simon.

3. Select the Refresh option by right clicking on the cell. Thus, from the below image you will see that the name changed would have got updated in your Pivot Table.
