DAX PATHITEMREVERSE function is categorized under the Parent/Child function. This function used to find the specified position of the item from the string evaluated by the PATH function. This function counts from backward(right to left).

Purpose of DAX PATHITEMREVERSE Function

This function used to find the ‘n’th position ascendant from the given path.

Return value

This function returns ‘n’th item in the delimited list produced by the Path function, counting backward from the last item in the path.

Syntax

= PATHITEMREVERSE(<path>, <position>[, <type>])

Arguments

path A text string in the form of the results of a PATH function. mandatory
position An integer expression with the position of the item to be returned. Position is counted backwards from right to left. mandatory
type If 0 the result of the function will be text/ string.(Default)
If 1 the result of the function will be in integer.

Usage notes

  • This function can’t be able to used to get an individual item from a hierarchy from the PATH function.
  • This function works in the reverse standard of hierarchy, so the last item is being listed first.
  • If the data type is not a valid enumeration element an error is returned.
  • If a specified position number is less than one (1) or greater than the number of elements in a path, the PATHITEM function returns the results as BLANK.
